The Torrington Public Schools and City of Torrington have received the 2016 Best Communities for Music Education National Designation.  Torrington has received this award fifteen times since 2000.  Making Torrington the most recognized for Music Education in Connecticut.

STONINGTON – Jessica Gail Sultaire, 29, of Pawcatuck, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island where she was lovingly cared for by so many while fighting a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer.

What is worse than not knowing what your future holds? According to Barrios, it's not living in the present. Facing her anxieties head-on, Barrios dove deep into the uncertainties of life as a musician by working to the best and hardest of her abilities in the present, which allowed her to move towards a successful future. 

Barrios was one of the top five finalists in the Guitar Center Singer-Songwriter V Competition, selected out of over 14,000 entries. She has also received the 2014 Best New Act of the Year Award at The New England Music Awards, and was nominated Best Female Performer of the Year in 2015.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

THS Music Alumni Brandon Gibbons and his wife Jackie "The Gibbonses" are a multi-instrumentalist, Americana duo based in Dallas Texas.​  Their latest single "Keep on Keepin On" they asked people from around the country to submiut statements that describe one positive thing they bring to the world to make it a better place for everyone.  THS Choir was accepted into the official music video
