The Torrington Public Schools and City of Torrington have received the
2021 Best Communities for Music Education National Designation.Torrington has received this award twenty-one times since 2000.
This makes Torrington the most recognized for Music Education in Connecticut.

The commitment Torrington teachers, students, parents, and community members have made to music education was on display this spring at the All City Elementary Honors Orchestra & Band Concert. Fifth graders from all five of the districts’ elementary schools, along with their middle and high school mentors, came together under the direction of band director Ashlee Casko and orchestra director Tia Ward-de Leon for an evening performance that left parents and community members deeply inspired and impressed.

Season Finale, Episode 12: Wayne Splettstoezer

Wayne Splettstoezer is in his 22nd year as Director of Instrumental Music/ Music Technology at Torrington High School. His music technology program has been nationally recognized and featured at All-State conferences in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Texas. Most recently, THS was featured as a Best Practice for Music Education at the 2018 Audio Engineering Society High School Educators Conference.
